Under general supervision, applies best practice computer science and engineering techniques to the complete life cycle development of a new/modified software product, from research and design to implementation, training and support. Shall have the technical background and skills to develop and document information systems by designing, implementing, and installing software solutions.
Typical responsibilities include:
Develops software solutions by studying information needs; investigating current applications, conferring/liaising with users; studying systems flow, data usage, and work processes; investigating problem areas; following the software development lifecycle.
Determines operational feasibility and cost by evaluating analysis, problem definition, requirements, solution development, and proposed solutions.
Develops required software life cycle documentation, including flowcharts, layouts, diagrams, charts, and code comments.
Coordinates with software development team leads and developers working on project and related deliverables.
Communicates ideas and development strategy through presentations, demonstrations and written information to management, users and team.
Participates in training users and handling support and feedback.
Minimum of bachelor’s degree in computer science or engineering from an accredited college or university. Shall have minimum of five years of applicable experience in software engineering field. A relevant master’s degree may be substituted for two years of relevant work experience.
